Davis Huaycama Montalvan

Davis is the Amazon Tahuari Tours & Expeditions leader and a descendant of the Yahua people, one of the Indigenous groups with deep ancestral roots in the Peruvian Amazon.

Born and raised in the small community of San Juan de Yanayacu, along the banks of the Amazon River, Davis developed a lifelong connection to the rainforest, its waterways, wildlife, and traditions. His passion is sharing his knowledge of the Amazon and its extraordinary natural wonders with visitors from around the world.

Davis speaks English fluently and brings both personal experience and generations of cultural knowledge to every expedition.

Davis is married to Angelica, and they have three wonderful children: Handy, Gabe, and Veronica.

About Us

Amazon Tahuari Tours & Expeditions is a locally owned and operated tour company based in Iquitos, Loreto, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.

Our mission is to give visitors an authentic Amazon experience while working alongside local communities to help protect and conserve the rainforest, its wildlife, and its rich cultural heritage.

The company is led by Davis H.M., a local guide who was born and raised in the Amazon Basin. His deep knowledge of the rainforest and passion for his home inspired Amazon Tahuari Tours & Expeditions. Our goal is to take visitors beyond traditional tourism and provide genuine adventures that create a deeper understanding of the Amazon and the people who call it home.

Our Team

Our team is made up of carefully selected and trained local people who bring firsthand knowledge of the Amazon to every expedition. Our guides, boat drivers, cooks, and other team members are experienced, knowledgeable, and committed to providing safe, welcoming, and unforgettable journeys through the jungle.

Because our team members are native to the Amazon region, they offer something that cannot be learned from a guidebook: generations of knowledge about the rainforest, its rivers, plants, wildlife, traditions, and communities.
