Amazon Tahuari Tours & Expeditions is a locally owned and operated tour company based in Iquitos, Loreto, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.
Our mission is to give visitors an authentic Amazon experience while working alongside local communities to help protect and conserve the rainforest, its wildlife, and its rich cultural heritage.
Our goal is to take visitors beyond traditional tourism and provide genuine adventures that create a deeper understanding of the Amazon and the people who call it home.

Jungle Beauty

Jungle Lodge/ Rio Ucayali (Yarapa basin)

Short on time but still want to experience the Amazon? This 2-day, 1-night adventure gives you a taste of the rainforest, rivers, wildlife, and local culture of the Peruvian Amazon.

Travel by boat along the Ucayali and Yarapa Rivers, explore the rainforest with a local guide, search for monkeys, birds, and river dolphins, fish for piranhas, and experience the sights and sounds of the jungle. In just two days, discover the beauty and wildlife of the Amazon.

Our Amazon Jungle Lodge

Our lodge is located in the Yarapa Basin, within the buffer zone of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. Surrounded by rainforest and rivers, the lodge provides a peaceful and authentic Amazon experience. Activities include wildlife watching, jungle walks, piranha fishing, birdwatching, and exploring the rivers and rainforest.

Responsible Tourism

Help us protect the Amazon. Please do not feed or touch wild animals. Do not leave trash or other waste in the rainforest or rivers. Always follow your guide's instructions, especially during wildlife encounters and boat excursions.

Tour Price

$150 USD per person, per day

Prices are based on the number of guests and type of service.

Minimum booking: 2 people
Maximum group size: 8 people
Private service: Available for groups of 2 or more, with a professional guide dedicated to your group.

All transportation, accommodation, meals, guided activities, and services listed under What's Included are covered in the tour price.

Day 1

Iquitos – Ucayali River – Yarapa River

9:00 a.m. – Pickup & Departure

We pick you up from your hotel or the Iquitos airport in a private vehicle and travel approximately two hours to Nauta. At the harbor, we board our private boat and begin our journey into the Amazon.

River Journey

Travel along the river while your guide explains the landscape, wildlife, and importance of the Amazon ecosystem. Along the way, you will see the area where the Marañón, Ucayali, and Amazon Rivers come together. We then continue along the Ucayali River before entering the peaceful Yarapa River. Enjoy beautiful rainforest scenery as we travel toward our jungle lodge.

Arrival at the Lodge

Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink and settle into your private room with a bathroom and shower. Your guide will review the itinerary and provide important safety information.

1:00 p.m. – Amazonian Lunch

Enjoy a traditional lunch prepared with local ingredients, followed by time to relax.

Afternoon Jungle Walk

Explore the rainforest on a guided nature walk. Learn about native plants, wildlife, the rainforest ecosystem, and the importance of conservation. We will look for monkeys, birds, and other animals living in their natural habitat.

Please note: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed because animals are wild and their activity depends on natural and weather conditions.

 

Wildlife Boat Excursion & Sunset

Take an afternoon boat excursion to search for wildlife and enjoy the sounds of the rainforest.

Watch the sunset over the Amazon and capture photographs of the beautiful landscape.

7:00 p.m. – Dinner

Return to the lodge for dinner.

Night Walk

After dinner, join an optional guided night walk to discover the rainforest after dark. Look for frogs, insects, and other nocturnal wildlife. Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 2

Wildlife, Piranha Fishing & Return to Iquitos

Early Morning – Sunrise & Wildlife Watching

Wake early to experience sunrise over the Amazon. Travel with your guide to look for pink and gray river dolphins, birds, and other wildlife while listening to the rainforest come alive.

8:00 a.m. – Breakfast

Return for breakfast at the lodge.

 

Piranha Fishing

Experience traditional piranha fishing with your guide. Learn about these fascinating fish and their important role in the Amazon's aquatic ecosystem. There will also be time for wildlife watching, photography, and enjoying the surrounding rainforest.

 

11:30 a.m. – Return to the Lodge

Return to the lodge, collect your belongings, and prepare for departure.

 

12:30 p.m. – Lunch

Enjoy a final Amazonian lunch before beginning the return journey.

 

Return to Iquitos

Travel by boat along the Ucayali River toward Nauta. Enjoy your final views of the rainforest while your guide shares more about the region. From Nauta, we return to Iquitos by private vehicle. Arrival in Iquitos marks the end of your Amazon adventure.
